Sump Pump Installation and Repair in Boynton Beach

Storm season is not the time to find out the pump failed. Testing, repair and battery backup.

Sump pump repair in Boynton Beach matters more than most homeowners realize, because our water table sits close to the surface and rises fast in the wet season. When a pump fails during a summer storm, water has nowhere to go but into the structure. We run sump pump installation and repair from our flat-rate plumbing service and across the county, including Wellington and West Palm Beach.

We service, replace and install sump pumps and ejector pumps, along with the parts that usually fail first: float switches, check valves and discharge lines. We also install battery backup systems, which matter here because heavy storms and power outages arrive together.

A pump that has not been tested since it was installed is a pump you cannot rely on. Testing takes minutes.

Warning signs

Signs Your Sump Pump Is About to Fail

Pumps rarely die silently. Catch these and you avoid the flood.

  • The pump runs constantly, even in dry weather
  • It cycles on and off rapidly in short bursts
  • Grinding, rattling or unusually loud operation
  • Visible rust or corrosion on the pump body
  • Water in the pit that is not being pumped out
  • The pump does not start when the float is lifted
  • Standing water around the pit or discharge point
  • A unit older than seven years with no service history

Test yours before every storm season. Pour a bucket of water into the pit. If the pump does not start and clear it quickly, call.

What the visit includes

Sump Pump Repair, Replacement and Battery Backup Installation

Full system service, not just the pump. The switch, check valve and discharge all have to work.

01

Inspection and testing

Full cycle test, float travel, amperage draw, check valve function and discharge flow verification.

02

Repair

Float switches, check valves, discharge piping and electrical connections repaired or replaced.

03

Pump replacement

Correctly sized cast iron or stainless pump installed with a new check valve and sealed pit lid.

04

Battery backup

Secondary pump and battery system so the pit still clears when the power goes out mid-storm.

Boynton Beach conditions

Water Table and Storm Season in Boynton Beach

Boynton Beach sits low and flat, with groundwater often only a few feet below the surface. In the June through October wet season, sustained rain saturates the sandy soil quickly and the water table climbs. That is when pits fill, pumps run hard, and weak units burn out.

Hurricane season compounds the risk. The same storm that dumps eight inches of rain also knocks out power, which is why a pump without battery backup is only half a solution here. We install backup systems on most residential jobs for this reason.

Discharge routing is the other local detail. Water pumped out has to go somewhere that will not simply drain back toward the house through saturated soil. We route discharge lines well away from the foundation and check that the outlet is not going to be underwater during a heavy rain event.

Drainage

Discharge Routing and Yard Drainage That Keeps Water Away

A working pump that discharges badly simply recirculates water. Where the water goes matters as much as whether the pump runs.

Distance from the foundation

Discharge should terminate well away from the structure, not a few feet from the wall where saturated sandy soil lets it drain straight back toward the pit. Short discharge lines are the most common installation shortcut we correct.

Outlet elevation

The termination point must stay above standing water during heavy rain. An outlet that ends up submerged cannot discharge, which stalls the pump exactly when it is needed most.

Check valve and freeze-free fittings

A functioning check valve stops discharged water from draining back into the pit each cycle, which otherwise doubles run time and shortens pump life considerably.

Grading and gutters

Much of what reaches a pit arrives from the surface. Downspouts extended away from the house and soil graded to fall away from the foundation reduce inflow substantially, and both are cheaper than a larger pump.

Sealed pit lids

A sealed lid limits humidity, odor and debris entering the pit, and it keeps the float from being jammed by anything falling in, which is a surprisingly common cause of failure.

Pricing

Sump Pump Repair and Installation Cost in Boynton Beach

Inspection and testing is a flat rate. Repairs are quoted by part. A full pump replacement is one price including the new check valve, sealed lid and haul-away of the old unit.

Battery backup systems are quoted separately so you can decide, though in this climate we recommend one on every install.

  • Repair or replace. A float, switch or check valve, versus a seized or burnt-out pump.
  • Pump type. A like-for-like replacement, versus upsizing for a higher water table or longer run.
  • Backup. Primary pump only, versus battery backup or a secondary pump added.
  • Discharge. An existing clear discharge run, versus re-routing discharge away from the foundation.
  • Pit condition. A clean, correctly sized pit, versus a silted or undersized pit that needs work.

Approved by you first. A range on the phone, a flat written price at the door. Call (833) 567-2788.

Before you call

How to Test a Sump Pump Yourself

A sump pump that has not run in months is exactly the one that fails during a storm. Test it before the season.

  • Pour a bucket of water into the pit and watch the float lift and the pump start.
  • Confirm the pump shuts off cleanly when the level drops.
  • Check the discharge outside is actually running and is not blocked.
  • Look for debris in the pit that could jam the float.

One thing not to do: If the pump runs but the level does not drop, stop and call. That usually means the check valve or the discharge line is blocked, and running it dry damages the motor.

Urgency

When Is a Sump Pump Failure an Emergency?

A pump that tests fine can wait for a scheduled service. Call immediately if:

  • Water is rising in the pit and the pump is not running.
  • The pump runs continuously and never shuts off.
  • There is standing water near electrical equipment.
  • Heavy rain is forecast and the pump has already failed a test.

If any of those describe what you are seeing, call (833) 567-2788 now rather than booking online. Emergency calls are moved to the front of the queue.

FAQs

Sump Pump FAQs

How long does a sump pump last?

Seven to ten years with normal use. Pumps that run frequently in high water table areas wear faster.

Do I really need a battery backup in Florida?

Yes. Our heaviest rain often comes with power outages. Without backup, the pump is offline exactly when it is needed.

How often should the pump be tested?

Twice a year, and always before the start of hurricane season in June.

Can you install a pump where there is no pit?

Yes, we can excavate and set a pit where drainage conditions call for one, then route the discharge properly.

Why does my pump run all the time?

Usually a stuck float, a failed check valve letting water flow back in, or a genuinely high water table. We test all three.

Is battery backup actually worth it here?

In storm season, yes. The conditions that make the pump essential are the same conditions that take the power out, and a primary pump without backup is offline exactly when it is needed. A backup unit also covers you if the primary fails mechanically.
